Can boy mystery snails lay eggs?

There's a thumb-sized white lump of cottage cheese looking lump on the inside lid of my tank. The mini-lumps of the cottage cheese lump are egg shaped. They're perfect spheres. I have a mystery snail, a betta, and three platy in the tank, with fry. Uh, but I got my mystery snail a few months ago [like 3] and I thought he was a boy. I googled info, and saw that mystery snail eggs looked exactly like what I had. What on earth??? Is the snail gestation period thaaat long?
