Why should we drill for oil in the Alaska NWR?

If we drill for oil in the Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve will gas be cheaper at the pump? If so, then why isn't the oil that we're pumping from Alaska today any cheaper than the oil we import from Saudi Arabia? Why does oil from Texas cost as much as Saudi oil? Do Alaskans and Texans hate America as much as the Saudis?
